On August 13-14, another Estonian championship took place in Kütiorg, where I was defending my title. It was also first competitions for me after the hand injury and surgery. A week before the competition, I managed to get really sick – runny nose, cough, fever, and finally it turned out to be angina. I was sick in bed for a week and wondered if I would even make it to national champs …
Managed to get rid off the sickness- jumped in the van and fired towards Kütiorg. The feeling on the bike was a bit sketchy all weekend, but to race again after two months was pretty awesome and motivating. With each ride, the feeling on the bike got better and better. Since the thumb was still painful, I didn’t want to take unnecessary risks during weekend, even though there were places where it could have been done. The speed definitely was not what it used to be before the injury, but i was enjoying the time on my bike.
This time, a solid ride brought me the 2nd place in the elite class, losing to Armin Pilv by 0.92 seconds in the two-course summary. I didn’t want to give national champs title to Armin, but due the above mentioned circumstances I had to accept with this – there was definitely more desire from myself. Considering the current situation, i have to be satisfied with it and move on from here. New oppirtunities again next year.
But now a change i have to take, world championships. Today together with Juho Mattus, we will start a roadtrip to Les Gets, France, where the world championships will start with a track walk on August 23. This will be my fourth World championships. Last year the World Cup stage was also raced on this track and I am more familiar with the track. It definitely helps me, even though the track isn’t exactly the same. The goal is still to give my best and to squeeze the last out of this sad season and keep motivation up – to face the next competitions with even more motivation than before.
Since going to the World champs will be relatively expensive, and after the World champs I would also like to race on to the World Cup in Val Di Sole, Italy where there is a track that I really like. Unfortunately, due to the financial difficulties, it is not possible to go to further competitions yet. I have a lot of motivation and desire to race, but i would really need your support. If anyone can, I would greatly appreciate your support! All information about support can be found in the sub-topic “support” and in case of other offers you can also write to me on Facebook!
